National PM
A yucky day in Auckland, a day the ducks would have a smile [corners-of-smile gesture] on their face if they could. More than likely they'd be grabbing raincoats too.
Severe
The area of blue, that's of course the area of rain piling in like a big fire hose being sprayed at a wall [gestures holding hose] like that, vmmm, coming in.
Pressure gradient opens up and by Friday, voila, no more salmon, they've gone back to Alaska.
Australia
You're heading to Australia over the next couple of days, you're probably thinking about packing. Will it be the warm clothes or just perhaps not really much at all? Take a bit of everything.
Hobart, a cool one at night there. You'll need a couple of logs on the fire or something.
Breakfast
Wild weather lashes the south
Sam Wallace is looking cosy in the studio while Dan is being buffeted by the wind in Wellington.
The high to the north of the North Island is just sitting there, it's just saying, 'ah, I'm not gonna move.'
We're finally gonna wave this thing out the barn door and say, 'get out, goodbye.'
Every so often you get a good gust and I'm certainly holding my feet down and I wish I had a couple of cement blocks on my shoes just to hold me down.
We'll finally take this weather system, kick it out the back door and say, 'enough of you, goodbye,' - it's quite a mean old beast.

Here's some video of Dan presenting the forecast on 9th October 2007.
