Severe Weather Update
More snow forecast for some parts of New Zealand. Elsewhere:
It's been so windy, holding on to the hat [touches head].
You can see all the speckly cloud, almost like little bubbles of flour being thrown at the weather map [flicks fingers].
Weekend Weather
We're taking a look at the weekend weather and some of you might be right now thinking, 'snow shovels? [gestures holding one] Snow hat? [touches head] Or is it going to be the Jandals?'
(Yeah, I had to look Jandals up too. Jandals = Japanese sandals = flip flops)
You see all the speckles of cloud, it's almost like taking a pot, you put it on the stove and you heat it up and you watch the bubbles just come up.
A cold, frosty start across some southern areas Saturday morning. You might be crumping [?] out-and-about, you might even have a snow shovel, you never know.
Our friend high pressure ... that's gonna be building in across New Zealand, so as it does it's almost like an accordion [accordion gesture] that's squeezed close. You pull it out wide [gestures doing so] and that opens up the pressure gradient.
If you're thinking, well, Aunt Mabel's coming round, you're gonna have a picnic or something; don't cancel the plans.
If you are gonna be out for the weekend and you're wondering what the weather is, of course, there is the mobile site, bam-bam-bam-bam [typing on phone gesture], get the latest radar and the latest forecast and, of course, more details any time you need them, metservice.com. That's the weather, for now.
Just realised we can't see his 'point' of the point-and-nod any more as it's off-camera. See for yourself; the video is embedded below. UPDATE: March 2012 - these videos are no longer available; MetService recently deleted all their old video forecasts from their YouTube account.
