Weekend Weather
We've got quite an area of low pressure to move through the first part of the weekend. After we say goodbye to that, we say hello to high pressure.

Clearer skies, lighter winds; temperatures go [dropping gesture], phoom, straight down.

Not one but TWO videos from Dan today due to snow affecting parts of New Zealand.

First, a Severe Weather Update:

Imagine squeezing out a sponge [squeezes] and squeezing out the snow.

It ends with '[point] see you again [nod] soon', and was followed a few hours later by a second Severe Weather Update:

Hopefully the children can at least keep the snowman in the garden for another day or so if he is there, but he will be disappearing.

Weekend Weather
Some of us, by the end of the weekend, might even be using the snow shovels [shovelling gesture], you never know.

You might start off, particularly, say, on the North Island for Saturday, probably like this [two-handed umbrella gesture - squee!] with the umbrella.

You almost open the floodgates here, VHUM! [floodgates gesture] and the cold air works through.

Sunday night into Monday:
Maybe that's when you're going to be heading home from Grandma's or going somewhere.

Nifty move to the other side of the screen to reveal the MetService website:
And any time you can, please, just head to the website. That's the weather [point] for now [nod].

Powder Watch
Think of this low almost like we take some sticky glue and we stick it on the back of the low [glueing gesture], boom, and leave it there.

Voom, like somebody opens the floodgates, there's the cold southerly.

After getting our hopes up with his 'that's the weather, for now' last time, it's back to 'I'll see you next time'.

Weekend Weather
No Powder Watch forecast for us this week, unfortunately - but we do get a brilliant Weekend Weather forecast instead:

Not a plan-spoiler by any means.

Whatever you're going to be doing, maybe taking the kids away for the holiday break, you've got some great-looking weather.

Don't be surprised as well, Saturday morning, you might be out there with the scraper [scraping gesture] on the car.

If you're going to maybe take the family out to the park for the day, always the details on the website, any time you need them. That's the weather, for now.

Am swooning over the return of 'that's the weather, for now', (in fact, I actually cheered) although no point-and-nod... yet.

Great British Weather
In off-topic news, this week's Great British Weather show on BBC1 was a huge disappointment, so much so that I might not even bother to watch next week. I realise that not everybody has GCSE or O Level geography, but this was dumbed down in the extreme. Perhaps if they'd had better presenters...
