6 Music: Chris Hawkins
Chris asks Dan if he can promise some sunshine.
Well, let me see. Let me just adjust some of these levers in the Weather Centre guru [?] office. Hold on a sec [various untranscribe-able sound effects]. Yeah, OK.
Unfortunately, we hear it'll be cloudy:
You're gonna needs some pretty large scissors or something, or a fan to blow it out of the way.
You wake up in the morning, pull back the bedroom curtains and you're gonna go, 'wuuurgh!'
If you had a map of the UK, you'd take a couple of weather fronts, you go [another difficult to transcribe sound effect], you stick more on either side and you say, 'yeah, that's today's weather.'
We've got this layer of cloud, just sort of sitting like a big- like you've taken a big duvet and gone [yet another untranscribe-able sound effect], right across the British Isles.
We don't really have any wind to sort of, vvvvv, blow the cloud out of the way.
Not a day where you're sort of splashing in the puddles at the bus stop.
Weather fronts are almost like ski slopes; they help the cloud and the moisture go vwooof! Up it goes.
We've had this ridge of high pressure, it's almost like he's had his stage call, he's sort of waiting in the wings and all of a sudden he's going to go, 'ah! It's my turn!' So he's going to start building in for the course of Saturday and, as he does, he takes all this cloud and moisture and everything and just says, 'come on, go away, bye bye'.
It's just one of those days where you maybe wouldn't put a gold star next to the day and say, 'ahhh, lovely day'.
Was that a hint of laughter in Dan's voice there?
Dan: Sorry for the rambling.
Chris: It's never a ramble, always a pleasant story and a journey with you, Dan.
Quite so. Am really loving Dan's 6 Music broadcasts, even though it then means risking brain rot to listen to him on 5Live.
An electric guitar extravaganza today.
Listen again, 42 minutes in, available for 7 days from broadcast.
