Unfortunately, I shall be filing this under 'off-topic', as this year's weather-related Children in Need eBay auction item (singular) is only barely relevant to our interests:
eBay: BBC Weather ExperienceThe BBC Weather team have kindly offered the opportunity to present the weather and meet some of the team. If you’ve always wanted to be a weather reporter, then this is perfect opportunity for you.
The winner, and one companion, of this package will experience:
- A tour of the BBC Weather Centre at Television Centre
- Meet weather presenter Carol Kirkwood and get an understanding of how the weather reports are made
- Present a weather forecast (off air) in the BBC Weather Studio and take the recording home on DVD.
This is a fantastic experience for anyone who is keen to get into weather presenting or learn about how our presenters predict weather patterns.
Wonder why they've just restricted it to Carol this year. Pure speculation, but perhaps it's got something to do with the fact that, unlike Dan and the rest of The Others, she's not a Met Office employee.
However, this restriction may be a blessing in disguise; as I have previously stated here, who the hell wants to make a fool of themselves presenting the weather in front of Dan?! I'm fairly sure I'd be unable to form a coherent sentence if I was in the same room as him, let alone present a forecast.
No sign of the usual bandana, but I note that it made a late appearance last year.
UPDATE:
The weather experience went for £960.
