Newsgroups (see Google).
This is the first (and possibly also the last) newsgroup round-up; people have been talking about Dan for quite some time.
Here's an edited selection:

... I'm surprised that he hasn't been featured on Dead Ringers yet.

Before News 24, and during the break he had from it, he worked at TV stations in the US. In his last broadcast for the Beeb before the break, he signed off with,
"...and that's the weather; forever."
I like him.
OMG - can you imagine hearing those words?
I think I'd have heart failure on the spot.

Thread: Daniel back on form...
From: CK - Mon, Dec 5 2005 7:57 pm
Dan Corbett was doing his stuff on the BBC news this evening - the "numbers" are back - we even had "starting number" and "finishing number", the customary advice to take an umbrella if out in Manchester, and an obscure meteorological term involving temperatures going "Phoom". He often doesn't finish a sentence before going on to the next one, and his animated, not-pausing-for-breath delivery is something to behold.

Thread: I know what you mean now...
From: Steve Loft - Mon, Jan 17 2005 9:20 am
I've just watched the video weather forecast on the BBC Weather site. I didn't catch the name of the presenter at the start, and all the way through I'm thinking "Who *is* this guy?" and "What's he on?".
So I played it again to see who it was... "Daniel Corbett". Everything I've read about him on here makes sense now...
...I find I don't remember much about the actual forecast. I think I have to go and visit my grandma this evening, or something?

I made this relevant comment on an earlier thread that has now "died" so I repeat it here:
I can't remember exactly when it was and the precise words DC used recently when he gave quite a restrained presentation (by his standards) and then said something like:
"Tuesday is the day when you will be able to use your umbrella"
Wow, I really looked forward to that opportunity.
Incidentally, a Google search for the "Daniel Corbett Umbrella Company" has sadly drawn a blank.
